This handblown and hand-engraved gold vase was created using diamond and stone engraving wheels with a v-shaped or "miter" cross-section.
NOTE: This vase was selected for the summer 2025 Lehigh Art Alliance juried show and is currently on display at the Luckenbach Mill in Historic Bethlehem. If it does not sell during the show, it will be made available here, beginning in Fall 2025.
This painstaking multi-day process creates a pattern of grooves inspired by the patterns of flowing water and a satin finished texture. These techniques have been used in glass workshops and studios for centuries. This particular vase was blown at the ArtsQuest Glass Studio in Bethlehem, PA and carved at the Corning Museum of Glass Studio. This vases is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, not a production item. Because this is hand-blown, there are small bubbles and tool marks present in the piece. These are artifacts of the process and testify to the handmade nature of this product. This vase is signed and dated by the artist, that's me. And it it a practical object as well, suitable for use every day. Hand washing recommended.
